AI Master's Student & Mathematician — AIMS Senegal

I'm Jérémie Mabiala, someone who studied mathematics and ended up fascinated by what machines can learn.

I'm currently pursuing an MSc in Artificial Intelligence through the African Master in Machine Intelligence (AMMI) program at AIMS Senegal. I hold a Master's in Mathematical Sciences from Stellenbosch University & AIMS South Africa, where I graduated in 2024 with a thesis on Gaussian Processes for Multivariate Functional Data, supervised by Prof. Sophie Dabo-Niang. My current interests span ML theory, NLP, functional data analysis, and optimization.

Before that, I taught. I spent a year as an assistant lecturer in Real Analysis, Linear Algebra, Functional Analysis, and General Topology at the University of Kinshasa. I'm currently a resident teaching assistant at AIMS Senegal, where I run bootcamps in Python, PyTorch, Introduction to Machine Learning, and Linear Algebra. Teaching has been one of the better ways I've found to actually understand something.

Outside of coursework I write, build small tools, and read about machine learning, software engineering, and mathematics.

Je suis Jérémie Mabiala, quelqu'un qui a étudié les mathématiques et s'est retrouvé fasciné par ce que les machines peuvent apprendre.

Je poursuis actuellement un Master en Intelligence Artificielle dans le cadre du programme African Master in Machine Intelligence (AMMI) à l'AIMS Sénégal. Je suis titulaire d'un Master en Sciences Mathématiques de l' Université de Stellenbosch & de l'AIMS Afrique du Sud, où j'ai obtenu mon diplôme en 2024 avec une thèse sur les Processus Gaussiens pour les Données Fonctionnelles Multivariées, sous la direction de la Prof. Sophie Dabo-Niang. Mes intérêts actuels couvrent la théorie du ML, le TAL, l'analyse de données fonctionnelles et l'optimisation.

Avant cela, j'ai enseigné. J'ai passé un an comme assistant premier mandat en Analyse Réelle, Algèbre Linéaire, Analyse Fonctionnelle et Topologie Générale à l'Université de Kinshasa. Je suis actuellement assistant pédagogique résident à l'AIMS Sénégal, où j'anime des bootcamps en Python, PyTorch, Introduction au Machine Learning et Algèbre Linéaire. L'enseignement a été l'une des meilleures façons que j'ai trouvées pour vraiment comprendre quelque chose.

En dehors des cours, j'écris, construis de petits outils et lis sur le machine learning, le génie logiciel et les mathématiques.
