African Probability, Information Theory and Computing School
I attended the African Probability, Information Theory and Computing School in Kigali, Rwanda, on a fully funded scholarship covering travel and accommodation.
The school ran over several days with lectures and workshops on probability theory, information theory, and computational methods. It was a good setting to meet other students and researchers working in overlapping areas.
One moment that stood out: I got to meet Ryan O’Donnell. I had used his book Analysis of Boolean Functions earlier that year at AIMS South Africa, while following a course on Boolean function analysis taught by Jan Hazla, who also organized and hosted this summer school. Meeting the author of a book you’ve worked through is a small thing, but it stuck with me.
